a question to devs/themers...
... is there a tool that can track .pngs that are not related to any xml files in order for them to be safely deleted? Or any other way to do this in a simple way? If not, that would be a great idea for someone to make it happen as updating a theme often leaves orphan .pngs that are not used any more.
So the tool would search automatically for each and every .png in all xml files if it's targeted and in the end would show the .pngs that are not releted to any xml so you can safely delete and reduce theme size and clean it up.
