[Guide] Use Samsung Touchwiz themes with default icons instead of Icons in the Theme

If you are using Theme Store themes of newest Samsung devices and you love the theme but icons are ugly, then you have come to the right place. After requesting a theme developer that they should also have a version with stock touchwiz icons, the developer replied in feedback that they will create such a version in the future and those will cost $1.00; Paying for something you love is fine but the attitude matters!

After digging through the file system a little and a little messing up with the installed themes, I have finally found a way to use Samsung themes with stock icons.

Requirements:
  • Newest Samsung firmware with Theme Store Support
  • Stock Rooted (Odex/Deodexed)
  • Root Supported file explorer. (I use Xplore)

Step by Step Guide:
  1. Create a Nandroid backup (In case if anything goes wrong. Mine had no problem)
  2. Open File explorer and navigate to /root/data/app/
  3. Find the theme package name directory with a suffix like ".appicon-"
  4. Copy the folder to anywhere you like for backup (In case if anything goes wrong. Mine had no problem)
  5. Delete the folder and all it's contents.
  6. Reboot

There you go!

Now when you boot again, you will have the theme skin but with the default touchwiz icons.
