Okay we go the new version of Hangouts 2.0.216, but many may run into problems compiling after trying to theme it.. After a few hours messing around with it I found the solution that made it work, I thought I would share...
Orginial - (Freshly Decompiled)
AndroidManifest.xml.. Line #1 (Decompiled with apktool 1.5.2 or apktool 2.0b8)
package="com.google.android.talk"
Change to:
package="com.google.android.apps.babel"
And now with all your normal edits it will compile... Still use the org androidmanifest.xml in your flashable apk.. this change just allows apktool to compile it correctly to find all it's resources.
